At Heritage Urban Farm, the safety and well-being of our animals and guests is our top priority. Therefore, we have implemented a strict “No Pets” policy for our pumpkin patch and petting zoo areas. This policy is in place to ensure the health and safety of our farm animals, as outside animals could pose potential risks, including the transmission of diseases or stress to our animals.
Service Animals
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), we allow trained service animals to accompany individuals with disabilities. A service animal is defined as a dog (or in some cases, a miniature horse) that has been trained to perform specific tasks directly related to a person’s disability.
- Service animals must up to date on ALL required vaccinations
- Service animals must be on a leash or tethered at all times unless the handler’s disability prevents them from using these devices, or if the devices interfere with the animal’s ability to safely and effectively perform its tasks.
- Service animals must be under control at all times and must not disrupt or interfere with the activities of the farm, our guests, or our animals.
- Service animals are allowed only if they are performing a specific service for the individual they are accompanying.
Please note: While service animals are generally permitted throughout our farm, including the pumpkin patch, we follow ADA guidance regarding service animals in petting zoos and animal interaction areas. As per Q26 of the ADA’s service animal FAQs (found here), service animals may be restricted from certain animal areas where their presence may pose a direct threat to the health or safety of our farm animals. In such cases, visitors with service animals may still access other parts of the farm. Our staff will be happy to assist and make accommodations as needed.
No Outside Pets or Emotional Support Animals (ESA)
We understand that pets and emotional support animals are important to their owners. However, for the safety of our farm animals and the overall farm environment, no outside animals, including pets and emotional support animals (ESA), will be permitted in the pumpkin patch, petting zoo, or other farm areas. This rule helps us maintain a safe and stress-free environment for the animals in our care and ensures that our visitors enjoy their time at the farm.
Thank You for Your Understanding
We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy. If you have any questions or need further clarification about service animal guidelines, feel free to contact us before your visit.
Thank you for helping us create a safe and enjoyable environment for all!
